Val's 60th

by dr-nick Email

Not much posting recently due to the house of 'flu. I realised that we hadn't even taken any photos of Jess for nearly three weeks. Most remiss. We're all pretty much better now, although there's a lot of tiredness in da house.

On Saturday, we were over in Biggleswade for a party in honour of Val's 60th birthday. Jess was quite excited about it all:

Sucker If he blinks, I'll have those glasses

Granddad's girl

The party was in Old Warden village hall, just a few miles down the road. Caterers did a lovely buffet, there were excellent bar staff:

Don't look now, there's a door behind you

as well as a very good band who Angie scouted and, of course, balloons:

String me along Party girls

My mum made the cake, including a bouquet of sugar flowers and a very tricky filigree fan made from icing. Very impressive, and she should be proud:

It was a lovely evening, and even Jess had a boogie on the dance-floor (albeit with assistance). Happy birthday Val!

Sunday was the day after the night before. Jess woke up around the usual 7am-ish, full of beans. This was a surprise, as she'd stayed awake much of the evening to see what all the fuss was about, despite us carefully trying to cocoon her in a pram away from the noise. Never mind. She had a big sleep mid-morning to make up for it. Then, once again, full of beans. We can't complain, as she's been so miserable whilst suffering this flu. We definitely prefer the cheery version:

Shake, rattle and duck Little donkey

Not shown here, she is now getting really quite good at pulling herself up to standing. She's also enjoying pulling books off shelves, and generally 'discovering'. No rest for the lucky.
