A night in the life

by dr-nick Email

Wednesday night, 26 April

9.30pm
Jessica settles in her moses basket.
9.50
Ros and Nick head up to bed.
10.10
Everyone is asleep.

Thursday morning, 27 April

12.10am
J wakes, hungry for a feed.
12.25
J finishes feeding and is winded and put in her basket by R.
1.00
J is still gurgling post-feed (not in a cute baby way, more in a sounding-like-she's-trying-not-to-drown-in-milk sort of way).
1.10
N picks her up to wind her.
1.20
J quiet again, so put her down.
1.25
Having started to gurgle again, N picks up, winds again, and puts her down, still gurgling. N massages her in her basket.
1.30
J falls silent.
1.34
J starts gurgling again.
1.45
N picks J up. She needs a change.
1.47
N washes her bottom end, and dries her off with cotton wool.
1.48
Fresh, clean and naked, J concentrates hard, and poos on N's arm.
1.49
N cleans her (again), puts a nappy on (her) and washes his arm.
1.53
N puts J down.
1.55
J decides she's hungry (again) and needs a feed from R.
2.05
Briefly fed and winded by R, J is put down.
2.13
Silence at last. Lights out.
2.14
Gurgles start again.
2.19
Since she's fed, pooed, been changed and winded, R and N decide there's not much more they can do, so ignore J for a bit. This time, she falls quiet of her own accord.
6.20
Blimey, it's morning. Must be time for a feed (again).
6.35
Fed and winded, R puts J down. She gurgles.
6.50
R resorts to letting J sleep on her for half an hour until everyone is awake and 'ready' to start the day.

Yes, it's time for Nick's first day at work after paternity leave!
