Boo hoo

Well, I didn't get around to posting over the weekend. Saturday was a busy day with a trip to town, followed by a few hours working in the garden getting some of it in order before the new-found spring weather makes everything grow like topsy. Rob and Hannah came to visit in the late afternoon, and before we knew it, it was dark and we were knackered!
Sunday was a bit of a tiring day. Jessica was out of sorts all day, seeming really unsettled. She wouldn't sleep unless she was lying on top of one of us, and every time she was put down on her back, she started fussing, whining and looking generally pained. It was really out of character for her, as she's been unremittingly placid since birth.
With a bit of telephone advice from Nanny Inta we concluded that she was basically a bit colicky; a gripey tummy giving her discomfort which she didn't understand and couldn't do anything about. Poor dab. Ints gave me a cunning tip for how to help relieve the discomfort (balancing her over my knee to squeeze out trapped wind), and by around 8pm we managed to properly settle her for the first time in the day. In the end we all had a pretty good night, so we're quite relieved. This morning she seems much more herself, so we're keeping fingers crossed that this was a one-off, rather than a pattern for the next few months, as colic apparently is so often.
