Eyes W+5

Cor, what a busy week. I've been meaning to write a note about my eyes since Tuesday night! I had my one month post-op check-up at Accuvision on Tuesday, although it was actually five weeks after the event. All is apparently progressing well, and on the Snellen chart, I'm fairly comfortable on the 20/15 line. That is, one line better than 20/20.

So my post-operative visual acuity (alt. description) is at around 130% of 'normal'. Woo, yay. That's still not quite as sharp as it was before LASIK - I think it was close to 20/10 before, but of course that was only when wearing the glasses. Without glasses, it was probably 20/100 or worse!

In prescription terms, I'm close to perfect in my left eye, and 0.25D in the right. That slight imperfection is still giving me a bit of eyestrain, but then again, I'm 20 times less near-sighted in that eye than I was before, so it's hardly surprising that my eye muscles are having to get used to doing some work when looking close-up!

Sunday/Monday in particular, I suffered a bit with sore eyes. Apparently that's not uncommon at this stage, as the nerves which get cut during the flap-creating bit of the procedure are busy re-connecting right now, and going 'hey, what's going on here?'

The other slight negative is that I still see halos around point light sources. It's not a big problem - I think it's still improving with time, and I daresay that I'll get used to it in the worse case. The basic improvement in my vision, both day and night is still remarkable. I'm still trying to take my glasses off at least once a day :-)
